Street Style

March 14, 2016

Happy Monday loves! I know that we lost an hour from Daylight Savings time but good news, longer (and warmer) days ahead. So let’s wipe the sleep off of our eyes and start the week with a little bit of Street Style from Charlotte Russe. I’m a girl that loves her fair share of dressing up but I also like to take it down a notch for easy, everyday wear. I live for a good t-shirt made of quality, soft material and some comfortable pants such as jeans or these joggers. The two make for a stylish look that is also functional. I could have gone all the way casual and paired these with some tennis shoes but I decided to add a touch of red to give the outfit a little more interest. I love olive green and red together. In fact, olive is a great base to pair many complementary colors with such as red, black/white, or even blush pink. Because temperatures are still chilly, I decided to add a chambray top for warmth as well as an additional element of style. This is street style: LA Edition.

By now you may have already heard that clothing designer Rachel Roy has come out with a curvy collection for plus size women. I, for one, was ecstatic when I heard the news as Rachel Roy has been one of my favorite designers for quite some time now. I would snag an XL whenever I was able to find one and try to squeeze my way into the garments but now, there is a whole line made just for me. The best part is that it is available in store as well as online. All you have to do is head over to your nearest Macy’s and you will be able to try on some of the styles from the curvy line.

When the line first launched, I was eyeing this print online. I love how bold it is and how it looks like a chic baroque design. This print comes in the top and a dress but I was leaning more towards the top as I thought I’d get more wear out of it. It is a silky type material and it pops when you have it on. I decided to play off of the subtle light blue colors in the top and bring them out with these simple yet cute pumps. I felt a solid black pencil skirt would be a great base to balance out the print and the shoes. With a black and gold clutch to complete the look, I was ready for the office, girls night out and everywhere in between.

No Ordinary Threds

March 10, 2016

I’ve recently been introduced to an online brand called thredUP. The whole concept behind thredUP is that they offer high quality fashion from major brands that is secondhand, meaning that the items are lightly worn. Think of it as a your favorite consignment store. The great thing is that they have such a wide variety of brands from Michael Kors to ASOS to Calvin Klein discounted up to 90% off retail price. By having such discounted clothing available, it allows you to purchase items from brands that you wouldn’t normally be able to afford. You simply browse through the pages online, (taking note of the major savings you are getting), checkout the items in your cart and then receive your cute polka dot box in the mail.

I’m wearing items that I ordered from thredUP‘s website. The top, skirt and clutch were a steal and perfect for the upcoming Spring season. In fact they were such a steal, that all three items totaled only $55! I was also able to order the look below (top, skirt and shoes) from the site that totaled around the same amount. Now, tell me where you can get two quality looks for just over $100?! You can’t beat these prices! This concept works on the flip side as well. We all have clothes that we no longer wear that are just taking up room in our closets. thredUP allows you to give those items to them through their thredUP Clean Out Bag and get paid for it. Simply fill the bag with the items you no longer want and place it in front of your front door for pick-up. It literally could not be easier.

Head over to thredUP to see for yourself! Happy Shopping!

With Spring vastly approaching, there has been an influx of light and airy pastel shades in fashion, namely pink. Pastel colors are always on trend year after year and I always love to see the transition from dark to light. Blush pink is such a great shade. Its feminine, chic and pairs well with a myriad of different colors and styles. I was immediately drawn to this blush soft pleated blazer from ASOS. The color is perfect for the upcoming season and the style lends itself to many different outfits. I found a great pair of matching pumps so I wanted to break it up the by adding in some denim. The juxtaposition of the soft blazer with the harshness of the ripped jeans is something I love to play around with when styling looks. It follows the theory that opposites attract and makes the outfit that much more interesting. With a white camisole and gold accessories, I am ready for Spring!
