Spring Lipstick Shades for Darker Skin

May 13, 2016Beauty

Today I am doing something a little different on the blog. Although I love fashion, I also love to dabble in beauty, particularly lipsticks. Lipsticks are such a great way to get an instant pop of color. They can be the perfect accessory to your outfit by complimenting your color scheme or being the contrast that you need to really make your look shine. The best part is that lipsticks are easily accessible to everyone and different shades can look great on a myriad of skin tones. This post, however, is dedicated to my brown girls since I am a brown girl myself and I wanted to test out some new shades for the Spring/Summer seasons.

Lipstick Color: ColourPop Mars

Lip-1

So I finally got on the ColourPop train. I have been hearing about this brand for so long and how they have great quality products for inexpensive prices. I almost thought that it was too good to be true. With these matte lipsticks for only $6/each, I thought there has to be something wrong with them, right? I was pleasantly surprised with this bright coral color that is the same texture and consistency of some of my $20 lip shades. Needless to say, I’m a believer!

Lipstick Color: Stila Cosmetics Como

Lip-2

This is probably my favorite lipstick shade. Every time I wear it, I get SO many compliments. Although its a bright color, it complements my skin tone well. A mixture of a pink and purple, it gives off a flawless shade that is sure to get you noticed. Best thing is, its versatile. I originally saw this lip color on a blogger that was white and fell in love with it on her. After heading to my nearest Sephora and trying it on for myself, I knew that I had a winner.

Lipstick Color: Coloured Raine Electric Raine

Lip-3

For my bold girls, this color is for you! This orange colored hue is one that will definitely get you noticed. “Electric” is actually the perfect name to describe this lipstick. Although it is a vibrant shade, our melanin can surely handle it. The warmth and richness of our skin tone offers a great balance that not many have and serves to enhance our face, creating an overall glowing look. P.S. – Coloured Raine is a black owned business.

Lipstick Color: Jeffree Star Cosmetics Prom Night

Lip-4

I love a good pink lipstick. It is my go-to for a lot of looks because its a great pop of color that is noticeable yet can also blend in. This shade from Jeffree Star screams all things Spring. It is fun, vibrant and totally girlie (sort of like me). A classic Barbie pink that is matte and lasts all day? Sign me up!

Lipstick Color: ColourPop Trap with Revlon Super Natural Gloss

Lip-5

Ok raise your hand if you are a brown skin girl who has had the hardest time finding a great nude lipstick? (insert raised hand emoji here). It is such a struggle right? If they are not making your lips look completely ashy, they are just non-existent altogether. I just so happen to stumble on these two products and I am so thankful that I did. When placing my order with ColourPop, I decided to purchase multiple shades because, hello, only $6! I didn’t want to go through the hassle of paying for shipping twice and thought that it was worth the risk. So I purchased “Trap” which creates the base of this nude look. When I tried it on, I was pleasantly surprised but knew I was missing. I remembered that I had received this Revlon gloss in a gift bag and thought, “I wonder if that would look good with this?”. And BOOM! With a slight tint of color, it adds the shine to this matte nude shade and creates a simple yet flawless appearance.

Hope you love these shades as much as I do!

Hugs & KISSES,

Kristine
