Just as history tends to repeat itself, so does fashion. Styles that were made popular decades ago always seem to find their way back into the current fashion scene. It’s almost as if we are paying homage to the classics while still infusing it with modern trends.
My homage is to none other than the 70s decade. It was a time when there seemed to be so much versatility in fashion and the lifestyle surrounding it. I’ve paired two iconic pieces together: the turban hat and bell bottom jeans. While my bell bottoms aren’t as flared those in the 70s, it still gives a nostalgic feel to that era. Not to mention, these are extremely flattering for curvy girls. High-waisted jeans make the legs appear to be longer and even more so when the hemline falls just past the ankle. I decided to go with a striped blazer that I lucked up on finding at a local thrift store (for only $8!). It is a common myth that stripes make your figure look wider but in reality, vertical stripes actually tend to narrow your frame, creating a slimming effect.
I think it goes without saying that this look is “far out”! (Corny I know, but I just couldn’t resist a cliche 70s phrase )
